L'Homme ArméRichard Harvey - For Three Brass Choirs and Percussion
Based on one of the most popular themes in France throughout the Middle Ages and Early Renaissance, Richard Harvey’s “L’Homme Armé” is a dramatic and beautiful piece for brass ensemble, written in 1982. Over 30 masses are known to have been based on the song, and possibly an even greater number that have not survived. “L’Homme Armé” has also been the basis of countless chansons, and although little of the original text has survived, it is reasonable to assume that it dates back to the time of the troubadours and Crusades.
